My daughters and I have long hair. It is so easy to tangle long hair while piling it up on top of your head to shampoo. Don’t. Years ago, someone recommended the following method for washing long hair to us. It works perfectly.
Wet hair. Pour a small amount of shampoo in the hand. Lather up the scalp only. Do not pile hair on the top of the head but leave it hanging down the back. After latering well, run the shampoo down the hair but don’t worry about rubbing in. Hair will be very clean if done correctly. Rinse well. Using as much conditioner as needed, work it into the hair from the bottom of the scalp to the tip of the hair. Make sure that the hair isn’t pulled, twisted or tangled up. Let sit for at least 2 minutes. Rinse well. Towel dry while keeping hair hanging down. Run towel under the hair and squeeze gently to get the water out. Make sure that no pulling or tugging occurs. My daughters and I all have long hair and have washed our hair this way for many years. It works beautifully.
